Five & Ten is the flagship restaurant of chef Hugh Acheson, who made his name in Athens before expanding to Atlanta and beyond. The restaurant sits in Five Points, the neighborhood just south of downtown, in a converted old store. The cooking is Southern in spirit but European in technique — expect things like pork cheeks with grits, or fish preparations that take influence from the Low Country and from France simultaneously.
The menu changes with the season. Brunch on weekends is very popular and worth booking ahead. This is the kind of restaurant that justifies a visit to a college town — genuinely good, with ingredients sourced carefully and a room that feels lived-in without being precious.
