The Last Resort Grill has been feeding Athens since 1992, and it remains one of the more reliable dinner options in town. The menu leans Southern American with global influences — seafood, vegetable dishes, and grilled meats make up the bulk of it. The shrimp and grits and the pecan-encrusted anything are crowd favorites.
The restaurant occupies a corner space in a converted 1890s building just off Clayton Street. The room is comfortable and unpretentious. They take reservations, which is worth doing on weekends when the university is in session and the town fills up. The wine list is longer than you'd expect for a mid-range restaurant in a Southern college town.
