Cartersville Abandoned Plane

A long-abandoned Grumman G-159 twin-turboprop sits in tall grass at the southern edge of Cartersville Airport, covered in elaborate spray-paint graffiti. The plane has been there for at least fifteen years; its provenance is unclear and its owner unknown. It is on private land but plainly visible from Airport Drive, and visitors regularly walk up for photographs. An odd local curiosity rather than a sight in any conventional sense.

A story
A Grumman Gulfstream G-159, a small twin-turboprop business plane built in the 1960s, has sat in long grass at the southern end of Cartersville Airport since at least the early 2000s. Nobody is quite sure why it was abandoned or who owned it. Local graffiti artists adopted it almost immediately, and the result — a brightly painted wreck in a field, easily seen from the perimeter road — has become an unlikely roadside attraction.
