The 1869 Italianate-style original county courthouse, replaced for judicial use by the larger 1902 building one block south but still standing in good order. Stately red brick, a tall central pediment, and tall arched windows. Now in administrative use, but visible from the street and a useful contrast to its grander successor on the main square.
