Getting There

Cumberland Island is accessible only by passenger ferry from St. Marys, Georgia, about 7 miles to the west. The National Park Service operates a concession ferry that runs year-round; schedules vary by season. Advance reservations are strongly recommended and essential in summer — book via recreation.gov.

St. Marys is reached from I-95 via exit 3. The drive from Savannah is about 90 minutes; from Jacksonville, Florida, about an hour. There is no way to bring a vehicle to the island. The ferry does not transport cars or pets.
