Despite its name, Michaelee's Chocolate Caffe on Main Street is a proper sit-down restaurant rather than a sweets shop. The menu runs from fresh salads and paninis at lunch to pasta, seafood, and steaks at dinner — a range unusual for a town of Hiawassee's size. The chocolate desserts live up to the name.
The room is small and fills quickly on weekends; reservations are advisable on Friday and Saturday evenings. Service is unhurried in the mountain fashion, which suits lunch well. Prices are moderate. It is the most reliably good kitchen in town for those not staying at a resort.
