The Gone with the Wind Museum at historic Brumby Hall holds one of the most extensive collections of memorabilia from the 1939 film and the Margaret Mitchell novel that inspired it. The collection includes original movie costumes, signed first editions, conceptual artwork, movie scripts, and hundreds of objects from production and promotion. Brumby Hall itself, a two-storey antebellum home on Powder Springs Street, is worth a look on its own terms.
Mitchell's novel was set in this part of Georgia, and the exhibit places the story in its historical and geographical context. You don't need to be a devoted fan to find it interesting — the material on 1930s Hollywood filmmaking is genuinely absorbing. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday; admission is modest.
