Marietta Square

Antebellum town square with boutiques, restaurants, and Glover Park at its centre

Marietta Square is the walkable heart of historic downtown, a grid of antebellum and Victorian buildings surrounding Glover Park. On and around the square you'll find independent bookshops, boutique clothing stores, antique dealers, art galleries, and restaurants ranging from casual lunch spots to proper sit-down dining. On summer evenings, free concerts play in the park.

The square was built in the 1830s when Cobb County was founded, and it survived the Civil War largely intact — Sherman's army camped here in 1864 but did not burn the town. The surrounding historic district extends a few blocks in each direction, with well-maintained Victorian houses and occasional plaques marking Civil War-era buildings.
