Keeaumoku Street

Honolulu's Korean restaurant and bar district, open until 4am

Keeaumoku Street and its surroundings near Ala Moana make up Honolulu's de facto Korean district — a dense cluster of Korean restaurants, karaoke bars, Korean supermarkets, and late-night establishments that keep running long after the rest of the city has closed. The area is authentic rather than tourist-facing: the signage is often in Korean only and the restaurants are full of Korean-American residents rather than visitors.

Korean barbecue on Keeaumoku Street is excellent and comparably priced with mainland Korean restaurants. Gen Korean BBQ and many smaller spots allow you to grill your own meat at the table, which makes for a convivial evening. The karaoke bars here are the real thing — private rooms rented by the hour, not open-stage versions. Good late-night eating spots also include several 24-hour Korean noodle houses.
