Pacific Aviation Museum

WWII aviation museum on Ford Island, inside two original hangars bombed in 1941

The Pacific Aviation Museum is housed in two hangars on Ford Island that were actually bombed during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. Bullet holes are still visible in the concrete floors. The museum covers WWII Pacific air power on both sides, with a collection of restored aircraft including a Japanese Zero, a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, and several carrier planes.

The exhibit on the Battle of Midway is particularly strong — a detailed reconstruction of the four critical minutes in June 1942 when dive bombers sank three Japanese fleet carriers and changed the course of the Pacific War. Located on Ford Island, accessible only via the shuttle from the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Typically combined with visits to the Arizona Memorial and Battleship Missouri.
