Kauaʻi has more than 60 beaches ringing its coast, ranging from the safe family-friendly shores of the south to the dramatic, wave-battered strands of the north. The south coast around Poʻipū gets the most sun and has the calmest water for swimming. The north shore is spectacular in summer and dangerous in winter. The east coast has a mix of both.
