Getting Around

Kihei is a long, narrow town and you will need a car or a bicycle to get between its northern and southern ends efficiently. South Kihei Road runs the length of the town; traffic can be slow during morning and evening periods. Most visitors rent a car at Kahului Airport (about 20 kilometres north) and drive down.

The Maui Bus system operates a route along South Kihei Road to Wailea and Maalaea, which is useful if you don't have a car and are staying centrally. Uber and Lyft operate on Maui, and taxis are available. Bicycles are popular for the flat beachside roads; several rental shops operate along South Kihei Road.
