Pocatello Idaho Temple

Hilltop Latter-day Saint temple with manicured grounds and broad views over Pocatello.

The Pocatello Idaho Temple stands on a rise at the northeast edge of town, bright and formal against the brown hills. Non-members cannot enter the temple after dedication, but the grounds are open and carefully kept.

It is worth a short detour if you are interested in western religious architecture or want a view back over the valley. The building also says something about the cultural geography of eastern Idaho, where Latter-day Saint communities are a major part of local life.
