Herrett Center for Arts and Science

The Herrett Center occupies an elegant building on the campus of the College of Southern Idaho and covers an unusual combination of disciplines: anthropology, natural history, fine art, and astronomy. The anthropology collection is the strongest element — it holds one of the most significant collections of pre-Columbian artifacts in the Pacific Northwest, with materials from across Mesoamerica, the Andes, and the American Southwest. The Idaho natural history exhibits give useful context for the volcanic geology and prehistoric lake environments that shaped the region.

The attached Centennial Observatory is open on clear Friday evenings for public viewings through its 24-inch telescope. This is one of the best public stargazing facilities in Idaho, and the dark skies around Twin Falls make it worthwhile. The museum itself is free; the planetarium shows carry a modest charge.
