Spring is the best time to visit if Shoshone Falls is your primary reason for coming. The falls peak between April and June when snowmelt swells the Snake River — by July, irrigation draw-downs can reduce them significantly. Summers are hot and dry, with temperatures regularly reaching the 90s Fahrenheit, but the canyon provides some shade and relief. Winters are cold, with snowfall possible, though rarely extreme. The canyon and bridge are accessible year-round, and BASE jumpers treat the Perrine Bridge as a winter facility. Spring and fall give the most comfortable hiking conditions along the canyon rim trails.
