Lincoln Memorial Garden is a designed native landscape on the shore of Lake Springfield, planted with trees, prairie, and woodland species associated with the places Abraham Lincoln lived. It is commemorative, but in a quiet, ecological way rather than through statues and marble.
The trails make a good counterweight to Springfield's indoor Lincoln sites. Come when you want to walk, hear birds, and see an Illinois landscape shaped as memory rather than as a conventional monument.
