The Ice House Museum occupies a round former ice-storage building on the Cedar River, a shape that makes sense once you learn how harvested river ice was stacked and insulated before mechanical refrigeration. Inside, exhibits cover the ice industry and local Cedar Falls history.
It is a modest museum, but a memorable one because the building does so much of the explaining. Combine it with a downtown walk or the nearby river trail.
