Imes Bridge

The oldest of Madison County's covered bridges, built in 1870

The oldest of the six, built in 1870 and originally spanning the Middle River. It was moved twice — first to a creek near Hanley in 1887, then in 1977 to its current position on the east edge of St Charles, where you can walk through it without leaving town. Eighty-one feet of weathered timber, painted the same barn red as the others.
