Southwind Nature Trail

The Southwind Nature Trail is the preserve's most approachable prairie walk, looping from the ranch area toward open hillside and the schoolhouse. It is short enough for casual visitors but gives a real taste of the rise-and-fall rhythm of the Flint Hills.

The best part is how quickly the buildings drop away. Within minutes you are looking across grass, sky, and stone fence lines, with enough interpretive context to understand what you are seeing without turning the walk into homework.
