Riverfest is Wichita's big annual civic festival, centred on the Arkansas River and downtown event spaces. Concerts, food, family events, fireworks, and riverfront gatherings make it one of the few times when the city feels deliberately built around visitors as well as locals.
Because it is seasonal, it belongs on an itinerary only if dates align. When it does, it can change the feel of a Wichita stop, especially for travellers who would otherwise see only museums, the Keeper of the Plains, and neighbourhood restaurants.
