The Keeper of the Plains stands at the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers and is Wichita's most powerful sight — a 44-foot steel sculpture lit by fire columns at dusk. The Wichita Art Museum and Frank Lloyd Wright's Allen House are the other major draws: the museum has a remarkable collection of American art, and the house is among Wright's finest Prairie-style designs.
For aviation history, the Kansas Aviation Museum tells the story of how Wichita became the Air Capital of the World, with an impressive collection of historic aircraft in a restored 1935 art deco terminal building. The Museum of World Treasures is a genuinely eclectic collection spanning dinosaurs, Egyptian mummies, and presidential artifacts. Old Town, the revived warehouse district east of downtown, is the liveliest neighbourhood for walking, restaurants, and bars.
