The central square of downtown Bowling Green, Fountain Square is the city's civic heart: a small park with a fountain, the Warren County Courthouse on one side and the Capitol Arts Center on another. It's the right place to get a feel for the scale and character of the city — neither impressive nor depressing, just a functional mid-sized American downtown that has held its identity through the decades of suburban sprawl.
The square hosts a farmers market on Saturday mornings from spring through fall and occasional outdoor concerts and festivals. The nearby stretch of College Street and State Street has the highest concentration of independent restaurants and bars in the city.
