Carousel Gardens is the family amusement corner of New Orleans City Park. Its centrepiece is a historic wooden carousel, joined by small rides that make more sense for children than thrill-seeking adults.
For travelers with kids, it can be a very useful change of pace from the French Quarter and museums. For everyone else, it is best folded into a wider City Park visit with the sculpture garden, oaks, and beignets nearby. Check seasonal hours, because the park does not run on a constant schedule.
