Augusta is served by Augusta State Airport (AUG), a small regional airport with limited scheduled service. Most visitors fly into Portland International Jetport (PWM), about 55 miles south, and drive north on I-95 — the journey takes under an hour. Boston's Logan Airport is roughly two and a half hours away and offers the widest choice of flights to the region.
By road, I-95 connects Augusta to Portland, Boston, and the rest of the Eastern Seaboard. US Route 202 and Maine Route 9 provide access from inland New England. Greyhound and Concord Coach Lines operate bus services between Augusta, Portland, and Boston; the bus stop is on Water Street in the downtown area.
There is no passenger rail service to Augusta. Amtrak's Downeaster terminates in Brunswick, about 30 miles south, from which you would need a rental car or bus connection to reach the capital.
