Located across a parking lot from the State Capitol Building, the Maine State Museum chronicles the state's history, industry, and natural environment. Highlights include wax figures of traditional Maine workers -- fishermen, lobstermen, woodsmen -- and a three-level mill model complete with turning gears and turbine. The dioramas of wildlife and industry are surprisingly well done.
