Getting Around

Bangor is a driving city — most attractions are spread across a fairly wide area and public transit is limited. The Community Connector bus system covers major routes but is not designed for tourists. A rental car from the airport gives you the most flexibility, including access to the wider region: Acadia National Park is about 90 minutes east, and the Penobscot River country stretches north toward Baxter State Park. Downtown Bangor itself is walkable once you've parked, with Main Street, the waterfront, and most historic sites within comfortable walking distance.
