Peaks-Kenny State Park is the easiest outdoor escape from Dover-Foxcroft, spreading along the south shore of Sebec Lake with woods behind it and views toward Borestone Mountain. The beach is the main summer draw, but the park also has short trails, picnic areas, and enough space to feel unhurried.
This is a classic Maine lake stop rather than a dramatic wilderness destination. Bring a swimsuit, food, and time to do very little; the reward is a clean freshwater beach and a quiet corner of the Piscataquis region.
