Greenville Junction is genuinely off the main road. By car it is about two hours north of Bangor on Route 15, or three from Portland. The last 40 miles north of Dover-Foxcroft are scenic forest road with very little traffic.
There is no scheduled passenger train despite the depot, and no scheduled bus service — the Concord Coach lines end at Bangor. The nearest commercial airport is Bangor International (two hours' drive). Greenville Municipal Airport, two miles east, takes private aircraft and seaplanes operate directly off Moosehead Lake.
