Rockville is served by the Washington Metro Red Line at Rockville station, making it easily accessible from central Washington without a car. The journey from downtown DC takes around 40–45 minutes. Commuter rail (MARC Brunswick Line) also stops here, connecting to Union Station.
By car, Rockville sits just off I-270, roughly 17 miles from Washington. There is ample parking around the town centre. Reagan National Airport is the most convenient airport; Dulles International is closer to the northwest but less convenient to reach by transit.
