Jetties Beach

Jetties Beach is on the north side of the island near the ferry terminal, sheltered from the open Atlantic and consequently calm and warm — ideal for families and anyone who prefers to swim rather than battle waves. Named for the stone jetties that frame the harbour entrance, the beach has restrooms, a snack bar, rental equipment for kayaks, paddleboards, and windsurfers, and a tennis facility nearby.

The beach is within easy walking distance of the town centre, which makes it the most convenient swimming spot on the island. In July and August it gets crowded by mid-morning. The view from the sand takes in the harbour, the lighthouse, and the occasional large yacht entering port.
