The Stearns Collection of Musical Instruments is one of Ann Arbor's more specialised university treasures, with historic and global instruments connected to the University of Michigan's music school. It gives music-minded visitors a reason to look beyond the campus museums that get broader attention.
Because collections and display access can change, check current visiting information before going. When open, it rewards slow looking: unusual shapes, materials, and playing traditions tell a compact history of music across cultures.
