Day Trips

Detroit sits within easy striking distance of excellent day trips in both Michigan and Ohio.

Ann Arbor is the quickest escape — 45 minutes west on I-94, a lively university town with a great art museum, good bookshops, and one of the most impressive college football stadiums in the country. Frankenmuth, about 90 minutes north on I-75, is Michigan's Little Bavaria: half-timbered streets, legendary all-you-can-eat chicken dinners at Zehnder's and the Bavarian Inn, and Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio is two hours south via the Ohio Turnpike and holds more record-breaking roller coasters than any other park in the world.
