Pere Marquette Beach is Muskegon's easiest Lake Michigan payoff: a long, sandy public beach with open water, low dunes, volleyball courts, and big sunset skies. It feels more like a shoreline park than a city beach, especially on weekdays when the sand has space and the lake wind takes over.
Come for swimming in warm weather, a cold-weather walk along the breakwater, or an evening stop after visiting the maritime museums closer to town. The beach is developed enough to be convenient but still wide and natural enough to feel like the reason people come to western Michigan.
