Spirit Mountain is Duluth's main downhill ski and outdoor recreation area, set on the ridge above the St. Louis River. In winter it provides lift-served skiing and snowboarding close to the city; in warmer months it shifts toward trails and adventure activities.
The views are part of the draw, especially when the river valley and Lake Superior weather are clear. Check seasonal operations before going, since the experience changes completely between ski season and summer.
