Little Falls

Mississippi River town tied to Charles Lindbergh, logging money, and Minnesota fishing history.

Little Falls is an old Mississippi River town in central Minnesota, worth a stop if you like small-city history better than freeway sameness. The river powered mills here, logging money built handsome houses, and Charles Lindbergh's boyhood on the south edge of town still gives the place its sharpest historical hook.

It is not a destination to cross the state for on its own. But if you are already between St. Cloud, Brainerd, and the lake country, Little Falls can fill a good half day with the Charles A. Lindbergh State Park, the Minnesota Fishing Museum, and the Weyerhaeuser Museum.

Check current access before planning around the Lindbergh house itself. The park and grounds remain the stronger everyday reason to go: wooded trails, Mississippi views, and enough aviation and river history nearby to make the stop feel rooted rather than random.
