Snackbar is a small bistro and oyster bar next door to Big Bad Breakfast — another Currence project, but a different kind of place: dim, intimate, the menu changes constantly. The signature dish is a French-Mediterranean-Mississippi mashup that works far better than it sounds — local quail with North African spices, Gulf snapper with chickpeas, a respectable raw bar.
The cocktail program is one of the best in the state and the wine list runs long. Bookings are essential, especially during the football season. The space is small enough that ordering a few small plates at the bar and watching the kitchen is one of the better solo dinners in town.
