Getting There

Oxford is about an hour and a quarter southeast of Memphis on I-22 and about three and a half hours north of Jackson on I-55. There is no scheduled commercial passenger air service to Oxford itself — the small University-Oxford Airport handles only private aviation.

By air. The nearest commercial airports are Memphis International (MEM, ~1.5 hours by car) and Jackson (JAN, ~3.5 hours). Memphis is far better connected for international and domestic flights. Several daily shuttle and rental car services run between the Memphis airport and Oxford.

By car. From Memphis, I-22 east to Highway 7 south. From Jackson, I-55 north to Highway 6 east. From Nashville, around four and a half hours via I-40 and I-22. The drive is straightforward and the last stretch through the Holly Springs National Forest is wooded and pleasant.

By bus. Greyhound and the regional carrier Megabus stop in nearby Tupelo and Batesville. There is no Greyhound service direct to Oxford. The Oxford-University Transit runs limited shuttles to neighbouring towns.

By train. The nearest Amtrak station is in Memphis (the City of New Orleans line). There is no passenger rail service to Oxford.
