Getting There

Vicksburg sits at the intersection of Interstate 20 and the old Natchez Trace Parkway, making it an easy stop on a road trip through Mississippi. The city is about 45 minutes west of Jackson, which has the nearest commercial airport (Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport). There is no passenger rail service to Vicksburg.

From New Orleans it is a four-hour drive north on I-55 and then I-20. From Memphis it is about three hours south on I-55. The Natchez Trace Parkway, a scenic two-lane federal road running 444 miles from Natchez to Nashville, enters the Vicksburg area from the south — a beautiful way to arrive if you are coming from Natchez.
