Hotel Finlen

A 1924 Italian Renaissance brick-and-terracotta hotel on Broadway, modelled on the Astor in New York and built by Miles Finlen to serve the mining executives flowing through Butte. JFK, Nixon, Eisenhower, Charles Lindbergh, and Theodore Roosevelt all stayed here.

The Finlen still operates as a hotel and the ground-floor bar, the Copper Lounge, is a perfectly preserved 1920s saloon room. Worth a look even if you are not staying — the lobby is the easiest way in.
