Going-to-the-Sun Road

Glacier National Park's spectacular road across the Continental Divide

Going-to-the-Sun Road is the great set-piece drive of Glacier National Park, climbing from forested lakes to alpine ledges and crossing the Continental Divide at Logan Pass. It is famous for a reason: waterfalls, cliffs, glaciers, wildflower meadows, and sudden wildlife sightings arrive one after another.

The road is seasonal, crowded, and subject to reservation systems, construction, snow, and weather closures. Plan it carefully, start early, and do not treat the drive as only transport; the pullouts and short walks are the experience.
