Iceberg Lake is one of Glacier National Park's signature day hikes: a long, steady trail from the Many Glacier area to a pale alpine lake backed by a wall of cliffs. Snow and broken ice can linger on the water well into summer, giving the lake its name and a very literal chill.
The route is popular for a reason. It crosses open bear country, wildflower slopes, and big mountain views before the final bowl appears suddenly at the end of the trail. Carry bear spray, check trail status before setting out, and expect company in peak season.
