Since the early 2000s artists from across the West have been adding large-scale murals to the brick sides of downtown buildings, depicting Charles Russell's Montana, Lewis and Clark, Indigenous history, and contemporary themes. There are now more than two dozen, concentrated on Central Avenue and the cross-streets.
A free walking map is available at the Great Falls visitor centre. The walk takes about an hour at a relaxed pace and pairs naturally with a stop at the Russell Museum.
