Chadron State Park

Nebraska's first state park, set in the pine-covered ridges south of Chadron.

Chadron State Park sits about ten miles south of town in the Pine Ridge, where ponderosa pine, grass, and broken hills replace the open plains. It was Nebraska's first state park and is still the easiest place near Chadron to get out for a walk.

The park has trails, fishing, picnic areas, and broad views of the ridges. It is not as historically loaded as Fort Robinson, but it gives Chadron the outdoor anchor it needs.
