Haymarket District

The Haymarket is Lincoln's most characterful neighborhood — a grid of late-nineteenth-century brick warehouses that once served the city's grain trade, now converted into restaurants, bars, galleries, boutique shops, and event spaces. It sits a few blocks west of the state capitol and directly north of the train station, giving it a naturally historic feel even without trying.

On Saturday mornings from May through October, the Haymarket Farmers Market fills several blocks with local produce, baked goods, crafts, and food vendors. It is the city's best weekly gathering and worth timing a visit around. The rest of the week the district is lively enough — evening restaurant trade keeps the streets active, and the brick-paved streets and restored storefronts make it pleasant to wander during the day.
