Things to Do

Carson City punches above its weight as a state capital — the historic downtown contains a genuine concentration of 19th-century architecture and institutions that reflect Nevada's abrupt rise during the Comstock silver boom. The Nevada State Capitol, the old mint, a railroad museum, and several Victorian-era buildings sit within walking distance of each other. Beyond downtown, the city is a practical base for Lake Tahoe to the west and Virginia City to the north.
