Gerlach's appeal is the landscape. The Black Rock Desert playa stretches for miles in every direction, absolutely flat and silent outside of Burning Man season. The geothermal springs at the edge of town offer a surreal soak with a view of nothing but desert. The historic water tower on Main Street is the most prominent man-made landmark in town.
