Lee's Sandwiches is a California-based Vietnamese-American chain that has expanded along with Chinatown communities across the American West, and the Spring Mountain Road location is the beating heart of Las Vegas's Vietnamese food scene. The banh mi — crunchy baguette, pâté, a protein of your choice, pickled daikon and carrot, jalapeño, cilantro — costs a few dollars and is genuinely excellent.
The bakery case runs Vietnamese-style pastries, pandan cakes, and coffee drinks alongside the sandwiches. The iced Vietnamese coffee made with sweetened condensed milk is the thing to order alongside your food. Open early and cheap; the kind of restaurant that sustains a neighbourhood rather than draws visitors to it.
