Castle in the Clouds, also called Lucknow, is Moultonborough's headline attraction. The 1910s mountain estate combines a house tour, gardens, a carriage house, lake views, and miles of trails through conserved land.
It is best treated as more than a mansion visit. Walk a trail to a waterfall, leave time for the views, and then tour the house to see how an early 20th-century private retreat was built to command the whole Lakes Region.
