A free, surprisingly well-run zoo about 15 minutes north of Cape May, in Cape May Court House. It holds around 550 animals across roughly 200 species — lions, snow leopards, giraffes, ring-tailed lemurs, a small reptile house — laid out along a 2.5 mile loop through pine and oak woodland.
The zoo is part of a larger county park with picnic groves, a bike trail, and a small museum. With kids, it is the rainy-day or hot-afternoon fallback. Donations are welcome at the entrance — the zoo's no-admission policy is one of the more unusual things about Cape May County.
