Things to Do

Cape May is for walking — the entire town is a National Historic Landmark district, and the bulk of the experience is wandering the streets full of Victorian gingerbread houses, sitting on porch rockers at the big old hotels, and ending up at the beach. The lighthouse, the bird observatory, and the World War II bunker on the bay side fill out the day. In the offseason, when the crowds thin out and the porches go quiet, it is among the best small-town walks in the country.
